Momoisay for VSCode
Talking ASCII Momoi from Blue Archive, now living in your sidebar.
This is a VSCode extension port of momoisay, the terminal CLI. Instead of running a command, Momoi just sits in your Explorer sidebar and freestyles between her animations while you code.
Features
- Animated ASCII art of Momoi, rendered straight in a sidebar webview
- Freestyle mode by default, cycling between three animation variants, same behavior as the original CLI's
freestyle() - Click Momoi to pause the animation, click again to resume
- Font size auto-fits to whatever width/height the sidebar panel has
- Loop a local audio file as background music while Momoi is around, synced with her pause state
Installation
This extension isn't published to the Marketplace yet, so you'll need to build and run it from source.

Then open this folder in VSCode and press F5 to launch an Extension Development Host with Momoisay loaded.
Usage
Once active, look for the Momoi view in the Explorer sidebar. It starts animating on its own. Click on the ASCII art to pause it, and click again to let her keep going.
Background music
Use the Add Music button in the Momoi view's title bar (or run the Momoisay: Add Music command) to pick a local audio file (mp3, wav, ogg, m4a, flac, aac, weba). Adding a track pauses Momoi — click her once to start the animation and looping music together, since browsers require a real click before audio can play. Click again to pause both.
The chosen file and volume are saved to your VSCode settings (momoisay.musicPath, momoisay.musicVolume), so the same track keeps playing across restarts. Use Clear Music (same button, swaps once a track is set) to remove it.

Source lives in src/extension.ts. Animation frame data is precomputed and stored in media/momoi_animations.json, which the webview loads and steps through on a timer.

Momoisay started as a terminal CLI written in C by Mon4sm. This extension is a VSCode port of that project. All credit for the original concept, ASCII art, and animation logic goes to Mon4sm; check out the original repo for the CLI version, install scripts, and C source.
